Action Alert! Gun safety bills

GOOD NEWS!

California lawmakers advanced four gun safety bills out of their committees! Now, these life-saving bills head to the House and Senate floors — and that’s why I’m reaching out to you today.

Will you email your lawmakers to vote YES on these bills to help prevent gun violence and protect public safety? These life-saving bills would ban “ghost guns” and the parts and kits to build them (AB 1621), enhance oversight at California gun shows (AB 2552), give gun violence victims and survivors the chance to hold irresponsible gun industry actors accountable in court (AB 1594), and strengthen gun dealer standards and security (SB 1384).

These four bills are evidence-based solutions that will protect public safety and save lives. And with the recent shootings in Laguna Woods, Sacramento, and cities across our state, it’s more important than ever that we act. But I want to focus your attention to one bill that our lawmakers must prioritize — AB 1621 to ban untraceable ghost guns.

Ghost guns pose one of the greatest threats to our communities: They are unserialized, fully-functioning firearms that require NO background checks. Because they’re so easy to obtain, they’ve proliferated across California and have been used in deadly acts of violence, including the tragic Saugus High School shooting and in everyday acts of gun violence.

The bottom line is that we must bolster our gun safety laws to prevent these horrific tragedies.

Your lawmakers need to hear from you. Please urge your lawmakers to vote YES on AB 1621, AB 1594, AB 2552, and SB 1384.

Thank you for taking action alongside Brady California. We cannot do this life-saving work without activists like you.
